Our Story

House of the Roses Volunteer Dance Company, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that continues the work of its model program, House of the Roses, founded in 2003 by veteran Broadway performer and choreographer, Jeff Shade.  Since its founding, the organization has conducted weekly on-site dance workshops with, and provided performance opportunities for thousands of homeless and at-risk children throughout New York City.  The children have performed at HOTR's five annual spring concerts at Peter Norton Symphony Space (2004) and the Miller Theatre at Columbia University (2005-2013) as well as dozens of community events.  Through these performances, the children have had the opportunity to interact and share the stage with Broadway performers and technicians as well as members of local dance organizations.

Today, HOTR continues to realize its mission to offer positive reinforcement and creative encouragement through dance to children in need.
